About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Marine Engineer to join our growing design team based in Segensworth. You will take a leading role in the specification, integration and detailed design of primary onboard systems across a diverse vessel portfolio ranging from 2 to 24 metres.

This is a hands-on technical role combining deep marine systems expertise with 3D design and production support. You will work closely with internal teams, suppliers, shipyards and regulatory authorities to deliver high‑quality, compliant vessel designs from concept through to build and delivery.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the specification and detailed design of primary mechanical and auxiliary marine systems, including:

    • Propulsion systems

    • Bilge and fire systems

    • Hydraulics

    • HVAC

  • Produce system layouts, cable and piping routes within Siemens NX master General Arrangements

  • Develop equipment lists, P&IDs and supporting calculations in accordance with Class rules and first principles

  • Generate accurate production data, including MRP and BOM inputs

  • Liaise with regulatory bodies, customers, suppliers and subcontractors

  • Support shipyard build activities, including design changes and as‑built updates

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of design standards, processes and best practice

Essential skills and experience

  • Proven experience in marine systems design and integration across multiple onboard systems

  • Strong experience producing production‑ready designs using Siemens NX

  • Sound knowledge of relevant marine regulations and Class requirements

  • Experience working directly with shipyards and production teams

  • Strong problem‑solving capability with the ability to work autonomously

Desirable skills and experience

  • Electrical systems design experience

  • Teamcenter PDM and configuration control experience

  • Experience mentoring or supporting junior engineers
